This large 46cm (18') Carved Maori Wahaika Club on Stand makes a great gift for a collector, as a 21st gift, and as a corporate gift.
Wahaika means 'mouth of the fish'. It is a pre-European Maori Club used in close combat, designed to be used in a thrusting motion, using the sharpened side of the club. Wahaika carry the figure of a man on the other edge, its eyes decorated with native paua shell. Note that it is also carved on the reke, the butt of the club.
This is the largest wahaika we have. It comes to you on a carved wooden stand with wooden struts.
Proudly made in New Zealand from tulip wood, a sustainably harvested hardwood.
The stand measures approximately 49.5cm x 14cm (19 1/2' x 5 1/2') at the bottom edge. It is a good solid block of wood, with beautiful carving.
ENGRAVING: We are happy to get the stand engraved for you as an optional extra, so you can mark the occasion. Choose either a metal engraved plate or have the words engraved into the wood.
Steps:
a) Choose up to 5 words.
b) Select the Engraved option in the Option box below.
c) Enter your words in the Engraving Wording box. (If you can't see the Engraving Wording box, it means you haven't selected the Engraved option yet).

We can also do a 21st version, with '21' in paua shell on top of the stand, and a gold plaque with the recipient's name and birthdate on the front of the stand. Or you can have the 21 on top of the stand, and their first and second names paua engraved on the front. Lots of options!
